Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week’s TTT topic is an All About Audio freebie. Since I don’t listen to audio books or podcasts, I thought it would be cool to share with you guys some of the songs I listen to when writing.
I absolutely have to listen to music while writing, but it has to be songs I know really well, played really quietly. I listen to mostly quiet, melancholy music when writing, often just one song on repeat for hours. (Yeah, I’m not a lot of fun to be around when I’m writing.)
1. Here (2 a.m. version) by Alessia Cara
2. Battle Scars by Lupe Fiasco & Guy Sebastian
3. The Love Club by Lorde
4. This is What Makes Us Girls by Lana Del Rey
5. Crazy by Gnarls Barkley
6. Dog Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine
7. Sad Beautiful Tragic by Taylor Swift
8. Send My Love by Adele
9. In the Night by The Weeknd
10. Beautiful Goodbye by Maroon 5
What songs do you listen to when writing? Are these any of your favorites?
I love Alessia Cara~ She has a very melodic and hypnotising voice, it would be very inspiring to listen to her when writing! Thanks for the great song recs, I will try using these when writing 😀

I definitely love a lot of these songs. My go to writing music is The Lumineers Pandora station!

Yay! I love finding other people who listen to the same music as me.
I can totally see how that Pandora station would be good for writing. I might have to try it out someday…

I love In The Night! The Weeknd’s voice is so buttery smooth you don’t even realize how nasty his lyrics really are. It’s all sex and drugs. Lol.

Interesting! I don’t usually listen to music while writing. I might have the radio turned on very low, but I find once I’m focused, I’m not hearing anything. My TTT

I love Alessia Cara and Lana del Rey, and I hadn’t heard of Sad Beautiful Tragic until now. Great choices, and thanks for sharing these – I feel like I might try them out next time I’m writing! 🙂

Thanks! Tell me if they work out when you’re writing!
Sad Beautiful Tragic is one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs for writing! It is really sad, perfect for when I’m writing an emotional scene.
